Jim is our Senior Partner and founded Shaw & Co in 2011 after developing his corporate finance career at PwC and Target Corporate Finance.

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, he was listed as one of South West Business Insider's '42 Entrepreneurs Under 42 to Watch', and has been nominated no less than three times as ‘Dealmaker of the Year’ at the South West Insider’s Annual Dealmakers Awards.

Over the last 15 years Jim’s dealmaking has seen him complete more than 75 M&A deals with a combined transaction value exceeding £0.5bn. He takes on complex and challenging transactions for clients across a range of sectors including financial services, healthcare and life sciences, property and construction, and wholesale and retail trade, as well as accelerating the growth of Shaw & Co nationally.

Jim has turned Shaw & Co into one of the most dynamic specialist advisory businesses in the UK and his strategic vision continues to drive Shaw & Co towards becoming a major name in the SME advisory space.

Jim lives just outside of Bristol with his wife and three young children. When he’s not running the business, or running after his children, Jim’s first love has always been sailing. He’s raced sailing dinghies from the age of eight and has competed at national, European and world level in several classes. He enjoys sailing dinghies at his local club as well as bigger yachts on the Solent. Jim has also recently taken on the challenge of learning to play the guitar, fulfilling a childhood ambition somewhat later in life.
