Ed is an Associate Director at Shaw & Co, specialising in technology M&A from the firm's Manchester office. He advises founder-led and private equity-backed technology businesses on sell-side exits, buy-side acquisitions and growth capital transactions, working closely with colleagues across the firm to provide dedicated sector expertise to Shaw & Co's national M&A and growth capital advisory practice.

Ed brings more than a decade of specialist technology M&A experience, the majority of which was spent at GP Bullhound, one of Europe's leading technology investment banks. During this time, he advised on more than $2bn of completed transactions across the UK, Europe, Africa and North America, with transaction values ranging from £50m to £350m. His experience includes advising on sales to UK-listed and NASDAQ-listed acquirers, as well as some of the world's leading technology companies.

Beyond his advisory work, Ed spent five years as Head Judge of Tech Nation Rising Stars, one of the UK's leading competitions for high-growth technology start-ups. The role provided a unique perspective on emerging businesses across every sector and region of the country.

Ed is also a Founding Director of Manchester Angels, which he helped establish to connect ambitious technology founders across the North with experienced angel investors and the wider early-stage ecosystem.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, and holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Manchester.

Away from the office, Ed is a keen gamer and regular gig-goer, reflecting his long-standing connection to Manchester's thriving technology and creative communities.
