Dan Martin

Partner

Dan is a funding specialist and leads our Business Funding team in the North.

With over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry, he joined the company from Shawbrook Bank where he was a Senior Director for four years leading numerous leverage and asset-based lending deals for debt mandates ranging between £2m-£100m. Working on a variety of deals including recapitalisations, MBOs, MBIs, PE buyouts, EOTs, refinancing, acquisitions, super senior/working capital facilities and share buybacks, he delivered over £350m worth of both owner-managed and private equity backed lending transactions across a wide variety of businesses and sectors, ultimately establishing Shawbrook as the number one funder in the alternative banking space in the region.

Before joining Shawbrook he was a Director at OakNorth Bank where he played an integral role in establishing the business in the SME/lower mid-market market across the North of England and Scotland. Prior to this, Dan spent almost 11 years with the NatWest Group where he carried out a number of different roles across the bank’s Corporate division.

Dan brings a wealth of experience and structuring capability to his clients having worked on facilities across the capital stack. From bi-lateral holds to syndicated debt facilities across multiple financial institutions, Dan excels in - and cuts through - complexity to structure facilities that maximise flexibility and ensure any debt is structured to enable growth, rather than inhibit it. His Debt Advisory team arranges financing for UK businesses and private equity funds from traditional and alternative sources of capital including high-street banks, challengers, credit funds and hybrid capital providers, as well as family offices.

When away from the office Dan enjoys spending time with his two children, rugby and watching Crewe Alexandra.
