James is an Executive supporting M&A and business funding transactions.

He joined Shaw & Co in March 2026 from BDO, where he was an M&A Executive responsible for the execution and project management of the entire corporate finance process, from the sourcing of opportunities through to execution and completion. Prior to joining M&A, James worked within BDO’s Deal Advisory team, providing financial due diligence for acquisitions, disposals, and refinancings for a range of FTSE businesses and private-equity backed groups. He has experience across several sectors, including Financial Services, TMT, Logistics, and Healthcare.

At Shaw & Co, James’s M&A support focuses on buying and selling businesses and includes helping to prepare investment papers, reviewing and building accompanying financial models, and conducting market research to identify buyers, sellers, and comparable transactions. His business funding support includes preparing funding proposals and financial modelling.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, James holds a Law degree from Cardiff University and has also studied at the University of British Columbia in Canada.

Outside of work, James keeps busy playing racket sports and bouldering (both admittedly poorly), and looking for new places to eat and drink in Bristol.
