Shaw & Co, the specialist corporate finance advisory firm, has made two new appointments in the company’s Bristol office as it continues the rapid growth of its UK business.

Karl Blockwell has joined as Communications & Engagement Manager. Karl, who has many years’ strategic PR, communications and marketing experience with major business-to-business and consumer brands, will be primarily responsible for increasing the volume of the company’s high quality content outputs and engagement experiences.

The role will play a vital role in supporting Shaw & Co’s repositioning in the market while driving heighted awareness and uptake of its services. In particular, it will provide a key link between Shaw & Co’s subject matter experts (SMEs), clients, business partners and the media by bringing thought leadership and client experiences to life through creative storytelling and events management. It will also afford Shaw & Co’s client-facing experts more time to focus on service delivery as well as providing the market data from which to develop new campaigns, content and engagement.

Speaking of Karl’s appointment, Paul Mills, Chief Marketing Officer, Shaw & Co, said: “I had the pleasure of hiring Karl at a previous company and when the opportunity arose, I had no hesitation in bringing him to Shaw & Co."

"
Karl’s a seasoned marketing professional who brings a wealth of expertise that will accelerate our efforts to grow our brand in the UK market. I’m really looking forward to working with him again on a pipeline of exciting and innovative campaigns."

Meanwhile, Ollie Roper has been appointed to the role of M&A Executive where he will play an integral role in supporting the Mergers & Acquisitions team in terms of business development, financial modelling, market analysis, industry research and reporting, and client liaison. Ollie joins the company from Smith and Williamson.

Speaking of Ollie’s appointment, Myles Hamilton, M&A Director, Shaw & Co, said: “Our M&A team has been very busy and following a promotion we had an opening for a new executive to bolster our deal execution capability. We interviewed a number of recently qualified accountants who were interested in a move into corporate finance from audit or transaction services but Ollie stood out as someone who would fit seamlessly into the team whilst also having stand-out technical skills. I am sure it won’t be long before he completes his first M&A transaction."
